9/24 Retaining walls and
level entrance at
Sharnberry Mine

Retaining walls and level entrance at lead mine. Probably mid C19 for London
Lead Company. Roughly-coursed and squared sandstone rubble with ashlar
dressings. Retaining wall c. 6 metres long and 1.5 metres high. At right
end, and set-back between canted retaining walls, an arch of irregular
segmental shape formed by voussoirs under a further retaining wall c. 1.5
metres high alongside path to High Sharnberry.
