GV
II

Bakehouse, now outbuilding. C18. Red brick on dressed red sandstone
plinth; plain tile roof. One storey and loft. Dentil brick eaves
cornice and integral brick end stack in front of ridge to right. West
front: small 2-light segmental-headed wooden-framed metal casement
to left and segmental-headed boarded door: to right. C18 (no straight
joint) lean-to to right with 2 boarded doors in return. Partly blocked
segmental-headed loft opening in left-hand gable end. Introduced early
C19 small-paned cast-iron window at rear with intersecting tracery.
Interior: large open fireplace with chamfered lintel, now blocked and
with inserted bread oven. The owner (December 1985) reports that
there was formerly a washing copper too. The large fireplace suggests
that this building might formerly have been a cottage. Included for
group value.
