Cottage, latterly inn, now cottage. Probably early C17, extended early C19 with later additions and alterations. Painted brick concealing and partly replacing timber frame, plain tile roof.
Original single-cell plan extended to right early C19 with late C19 gabled brick addition at right-angles to rear on right. One storey and attic; one C20 casement to each side of roughly central gabled brick porch over six-panel door, C20 gabled eaves dormers directly above casements; prominent red brick ridge stack to left (with an additional late C19 brick shaft) formerly an end stack, late C19 brown brick stack behind ridge to right.
Interior: left-hand ground-floor room has chamfered cross-beam with ogee stops and heavy joists; former right gable end of original cottage (visible in roof space) has V-struts from collar; brick cellars. Evidence of structural framing in the former back wall was discovered during restoration work c.1982.
Formerly in use as the Buck's Head Inn until c.1860.
