-
GV II
Malt-house, now veterinary surgery. Probably early C19. Roughly squared
and coursed rubblestone with red brick dressings, rendered to south;
corrugated iron roof, hipped to south. Aligned approximately north-south
with polygonal end to south. 3 storeys. Raised brick eaves and parapeted
gable end to north. West front: 3 small second-floor boarded openings
beneath eaves with gabled semi-dormered boarded hoist door between first
and second from right, and blocked small opening to left; four first-floor
2-light segmental-headed wooden casements, the second from left a C20
replacement of a loading door; 3 ground-floor 2-light segmental-headed
wooden casements with segmental-headed boarded door between first and
second from left. Ground-floor 2-light wooden casement in polygonal end
to right. 2-storey addition slightly projecting to left: toothed brick
eaves cornice and parapeted gable end; small first-floor boarded opening
with brick relieving arch. The ground is built up to first-floor level
at the rear. This malt-house and the former maltster's house (qv) to
the east form a complete example of a small rural maltings.
