Farmhouse. Late C16 or early C17, re-modelled mid-C18 and early C19 with
later additions and alterations. Part timber framed with plaster infill,
reddish-brown brick and uncoursed sandstone rubble plinth, machine tile
roofs. Original timber framed house an L-plan, cased in brick and converted
into a lobby-entry house in mid-C18; a long range was added in angle to
rear in early C19, partly demolished and gable re-built c.1960. 2 storeys
and gable-lit attics with floor band to front and dentilled eaves cornices;
cellars; slightly asymmetrical 3-bay front, 16-paned glazing bar sashes;
central entrance approached by short flight of steps; late C20 pedimented
doorcase but with early C19 six-panel door and rectangular overlight; axial
ridge stack directly above; framing: exposed to right gable end, close
studding with middle rails and long curved tension braces; jetty to first
floor supported on richly carved corner brackets. Interior: not inspected,
but noted as having exposed timber frame (square panels) to right-hand ground-
floor room and C17 oak panelling in room to left.
