Cottage. Probably C16 with later additions and alterations. Roughcast on
rubblestone plinth, mainly concealing timber frame; thatched roof covered
by corrugated iron sheeting, rubblestone end stacks, that to left integral
with stone cladding of gable and that to right projecting with stepping,
dripstones and capping. 2 storeys; irregular fenestration, C20 metal casements,
3 to first floor and 3 to ground, entrance to right; square panelling visible
in right gable end. Outshut to rear, part stone and part timber-framed.
Interior. Timber framing substantially intact, large square panels, including
central cross wall; ground floor also has massive wide chamfered beams and
heavy joists, wide low fireplace with beam above in right hand room, infilled
bake oven in left hand room (parlour); on the first floor the central roof
truss is visible and is of Queen strut construction with V-struts to the
collar.
