Farmhouse, now house. Probably early C17 with later additions and alterations,
extended c.1890. Roughcast timber frame; graded slate roof. L-plan
comprising hall range of 2 framed bays with single-bay gabled cross-wing
slightly projecting to right; late C19 two-storey addition to left of hall
range. One storey and attic. Irregular fenestration a mixture of C19
and early C20 casements, fixed-light windows and 4-paned sashes, one with
tested lights; one to left of hall range with another in gabled half-dormer
directly above; one to first floor of cross-wing and 2 below with another
in hall range immediately to left of lean-to in angle between ranges, which
is probably on site of original entrance. Wide flat-roofed C20 dormer
in roof slope directly above in line with large red brick axial ridge stack
with moulded capping. Present entrance to right wall of cross-wing, which
has projecting double-purlin ends to gables. Low lean-to former dairy
to rear. Interior Ground-floor room of cross-wing has 2 deep-chamfered
cross beams and flat heavy joists, all with straight-cut stops. Massive
chamfered wooden lintel to infilled inglenook fireplace to left and steps
down to dairy in back wall. Doorway with shaped head to hall range, whole
of right bay of which, except for passage, is occupied by stack. Left room
has inglenook fireplace and deep-chamfered cross beam and heavy joists.
Double-purlin roof with collar and tie beam trusses partly exposed to hall
range and similar roof to cross-wing with V-struts from collar to rear gable.
Late C19 addition is not of special architectural interest.
