6/213 The Fox Public House

Public house. Early C18. Coursed limestone rubble with squared marlstone quoins
and wooden lintels; artificial stone-slate roof with brick gable stack, 2-unit
plan with subsidiary wing, 2 storeys plus attic. Front, at right angles to road,
has a central doorway with a stop-chamfered lintel and has, to left, a 3-light
casement with similar lintel above a small canted bay window, probably C19. Roof
has stack to left and a gabled roof dormer. Single-stormy bay to left has a C20
window. Right gable wall, facing road, has a large casement above a C20 bay
window. Rear has 2 gabled roof dormers. Interior: large open fireplace with
stop-chamfered bressumer.
