Includes No. 290 Heigham Street (Gibraltar Cafe) on corner of Heigham Watering.
2 houses. Probably early C18 with later alterations. Roughcast with rendered
plinth; pantiled roof; 3 brick chimneys (one rendered) 2 storeys; scattered
fenestration. Central recessed round-headed door with glazing bays is flanked
by pilasters in a bolection-moulded doorcase with spandrels and rusticated key-
blocks. Gable-fronted wings to right and left. Panelled (part-glazed) door
in simple pedimented doorcase to right. Fenestration (mainly casements)
includes a round-headed window above the principal door. Damaged sundial
above flint roundel on right side of left wing. Rear gable has kneelers.
Early C19 extension parallel with Heigham Street is a 2-storey 3-window
range of sashes with glazing bars. Interior (not inspected during resurvey)
is noted as haring C18 staircase of 3 flights with twisted balusters, fluted
newels and swept moulded rail. Ground floor behind front door has original
moulded and panelled doors and fireplace. Ground-floor room in south-west
corner has moulded plaster centre-piece and cornice, decorated round-headed
niche, moulded architrave doorcase with volutes to broken pediment and a
fireplace with Vitruvian small frieze and cornice.
