7/57 Ferndale Farmhouse
GV II
House of 2 ranges, late C17 and early C19. Front (east) range, early C19,
gault brick, black glazed pantiles, 2 storeys, 5 windows. Projecting central
bay, brick pilasters at either end of facade; central classical porch with
two fluted Doric columns supporting an entablature, part glazed double leaved
door with moulded door surround; sashes under flat arches have shaped
canopies; gable end internal stacks. Rear (west) range, late C17/early C18,
2 storeys and attic, coursed flint with brick dressings over moulded brick
capped flint plinth, upper part of 2nd storey in brick; central axial stack
rebuilt in gault brick; varied fenestration. South gable has asymmetrical
3-light casements with transoms. North gable has sash to ground floor, 3-
light casements to first floor and attic windows with square brick moulds.
Single storey service wing to rear at north and C20 2-storey wing at rear
to south of no special interest.
