6/219 The Old Rectory

Rectory, now house. Partly late C17/early C18, extended mid C18 and late
C18/early C19. Coursed squared limestone rubble, partly rendered; old plain-tile
roof with brick stacks. Triple-depth plan. 2 storeys, 3-window front, on
rendered range of c.1800 with ashlar corner buttresses, has central entrance
with mid-C19 ashlar combined porch and window bay to left of it; first-floor
windows, of 3, 2 and 3 lights, have wooden mullions and transoms. Right end wall
has large mid C19 canted 2-storey bay window and returns to 3-window rubble
garden front with mostly segmental-arched windows and central mid C18 hipped
roof dormer in the hipped roof. Right bay is the end gable of rear range which
retains in the rear wall a late C17/early C18 leaded casement with wooden cross
frame. Further hipped roof dormer in left end of central range. Interior: Early
C19 marble fireplace.
