Two houses. Early/mid C18. Partly coursed and squared marlstone rubble with some
ashlar dressings and some wooden lintels; concrete plain-tile roof with stone
and brick stacks. 2-unit plans. 2 storeys plus attic. 2-window front of Corner
Cottage, to left, has a 6-panel door to left of centre, approached by a flight
of 4 semi-circular stone steps, and has a large leaded 3-light casement to right
and a smaller renewed casement to left, all with ashlar flat arches; first floor
has old 3-light casements, that to right below a small gable. Small cellar
window to left of the steps has an arched stone head. Right bay has uncoursed
rubble walling above an ashlar plinth. Beggars Roost, to right, has a pair of
2-light casements at first floor, and has a larger 3-light casement plus the
entrance below, all with lintels. Continuous steep-pitched roof has a gable
parapet to left, brick end stacks, and a stone stack rising to left of bay 2.
Long wing to rear of Beggars Roost ending with a gable parapet, has further
casements and a garage entrance. Interiors not inspected.
