Single-track road bridge over River South Tyne, c.1775. Tooled ashlar sandstone.
Both faces similar: single c.25-metre wide segmental arch with flush voussoirs,
arch band and triple keystone. Arch, flanked by wide slightly-projecting piers,
rests on side walls with chamfered plinths and top bands. Parapet defined by
wide band and projecting chamfered coping. Horizontal section of parapet
extends beyond keystone before raking down to south. Parapet terminates at
projecting end piers with pyramidal caps. Plaque above keystone on inner face
of west parapet inscribed: FEATHERSTONE BRIDGE. Curving walls on north end of
parapet; splayed walls on south end.
