18/15 Fold Cottage with
adjacent outbuildings

Cottage and outbuildings, mid C18. Coursed roughly-squared stone with tooled-
and-margined quoins and dressings; pantile roof with stone slates to eaves and
old brick stack; Welsh slates on western outbuilding, C20 grey tiles on eastern
outbuilding.
South elevation 2 storeys, 1 bay. Boarded door in alternating-block surround
to right; 4-pane sash window in irregular stone surround and similar opening
lacking its carpentry above. Banded left end stack. To left, pent outbuilding
has doorway with small windows above and to left. Single-storey 3-bay outbuilding
set back to right has boarded door in chamfered alternating-block surround
flanked by similar openings partly blocked; small brick outhouse on left not
of interest.
Returns of cottage show reverse-stepped gables. Rear elevation shows old 12-pane
fixed window and small casement,in chamfered surrounds, with 4-pane sash in stone
surround above; outbuilding to left shows slit vents.
Fold Cottage and its attendant farmbuildings form a picturesque C18 group in the
centre of Acomb Village.
