Garden walls with gazebo. Probably early C18 altered. Thin-coursed, galleted
rubblestone with red brick dressings. Main garden is square on plan with 2nd,
L-shaped, garden enfolding it on west and south sides; it has a gazebo at its
north-east corner, and a wall continuing north from the gazebo to meet a cross
wall which runs alongside the path linking Church Street and Great George
Street. Wall approximately 3 metres high, in places ramping down to lower
sections, with domed top, in some places replaced by late C19/C20 brick-on-edge
coping or with tile coping. Brick pilaster strips in wall at changes in
direction. Several round-arched entrances with quoined brick surrounds.
Gazebo: west elevation: central round-arched entrance flanked by square openings
with brick surrounds and stone inner surrounds with round-arched heads;
heavily-moulded brick cornice; hipped roof. East elevation: wide elliptically-
arched opening with imposts and keystone; cornice as west side. North side has
blocked round-arched entrance. L-shaped garden in south wall has a canted-
fronted late C19 or early C20 garden house with plain tile roof. Greenhouses
attached to walls not of special interest. The gardens formerly belonged to No
30 (Church House, q.v.).
