7/88 Stable Block to North of
Lilburn Tower

GV 11

Stable block. Early C19. By John Dobson. Dressed stone, local slate roofs. 3 sides
of a courtyard. 2-storey, 5-bay entrance block with segmental-arched central
entrance. Similar arches to carriage houses left and right. 2-light windows under
hoodmoulds above. Gabled roof with ridged coping and kneelers. Later, large square
castellated clock tower with clock stage first then recessed bell stage with Tudor-
arched openings. To left and right single-storey ranges. Stables on the right with
one segment-headed arch and 3 roof vents with spiked finials. Interior has shaped
stalls with cast iron columns and ball finials.
