The Hart Burn
GV II
Bridge, C18 widened 1850. C18 part squared stone, C19 part rock-faced stone
with tooled and margined dressings. Upstream (north) face; semicircular arch
with recessed voussoirs and band above, abutments canted forward, with later
buttressing. Downstream face; semicircular arch with rusticated voussoirs
flanked by pilasters, band below parapet; pilasters carried up as piers with
pyramidal caps; similar piers terminate parapet to right and left. Soffit of
arch shows channelled rustication in C19 part.
