The Thatched Cottage

Cottage. C17-C18. Uncoursed limestone and ironstone rubble; thatched roofs brick
stack. Said to have been single cell plan, extended in C20 one bay to left to
take in adjoining barn. Original entrance was on street front. One storey and
attic, 4 bays. Doorway second bay from left has wood lintel and plank door. C20
two-light casement window with wood lintel to left. 2 similar windows to right
and in attic. Semi-circular bread oven with thatched roof in right bay.
Interior, chamfered spine beams, plain joists. Open firepace. Bread oven rebuilt
internally with brick surround.
