House. C17 or earlier core with some C17 facing substantially enlarged
in the early C19. Red brick with hipped tiled roofs; off-centre stacks.
A complex L-shaped plan. Attractive assymetric front in three parts;
widely projecting semicircular-ended bay to right of two storeys with
a range of tripartite glazing bar sashes in moulded surrounds. The
centre of the house is dominated by a 3-storey porch tower of C17
origins and retaining stone quoins and string at first floor level,
again a range of tripartite glazing sashes over the entrance with
moulded surround, cornice, overlight and 6-panel door. Wing set back
to left (comprising 2/3 of frontage) of two windows, all tripartite
sashes except to upper floor of lower, inner, part which has a casement
and gabled dormer over. It has been suggested that the house has
been of longhouse type, the axis of which would have run from behind
the present entrance. The house is attractively set at the head of
