House

Lodge. 1830-1 by James Trubshaw. Sandstone ashlar; pyramidal slate roof
of low pitch with central ashlar stack. Symmetrical two storey, three
window front; segmental head casements; central entrance set within wide
segmental headed opening with frieze set at springing supported by a pair
of tuscan columns and half columns against reveals. Forms part of the
approach (originally the main carriage drive) to Heath House (qv).
Drawings exist for the commission signed by James Trubshaw and not Thomas as
suggested in T. Mowl and B. Earnshaw "Trumpet at a Distant Gate - The
Lodge as Prelude to the Country House", Waterstone 1985.
