TL 67 SE FRECKENHAM NORTH STREET

Farmhouse, late C16 with alterations of early C19 and c.1970. Originally 2-
cell lobby-entrance plan, 2 storeys; a lower service range added C17 to left-
hand end. Timber-framed and plastered, with C19 alterations of plastered
clunch. Double Roman pantiled roofs with central and end chimneys of red and
gault brick; C20 monopitched casement dormers. C20 casements. Mid C19 gabled
entrance porch with pair of 2-panelled doors; broad moulded architrave and
console brackets supporting a cornice. In the hall is an exposed late C16 1st
floor structure of good quality, with roll-moulded beams and joists; the upper
floor was probably jettied along the front wall before being underbuilt in C19.
Good wind-braced clasped-purlin roof.
