A timber-framed and plastered building probably of C14-C15 origin with
cross wings at the north and south ends with jettied upper storeys on
exposed joists. There is another small gable with a jettied upper storey
on the north of the south cross wing. Roofs tiled. The timber-framing
is mainly exposed on the west front and there is a return frontage on
Water Street with pargetted emblems of the wool trade (cf Nos 11 and
12 Church Street), the mitre, fleur-de-Lys and spur rowel. There are
also modern mullioned and transomed windows in old style. Two storeys
and extensive cellars. On the Water Street front there is a large gable
east of which has been restored and renovated, with exposed timber-framing
and mullioned and transomed windows in old style. Part of the ground
storey is faced in red brick.
