Widows' homes. 1887 on plaque. For Berners estate. Red brick with tile hung
1st floor and plain tile roof. 2 storeys. 4-bay centre with single-bay pro-
jecting cross wings to each end. Domestic revival style. Tudor-arched plank
doors with carved spandrels in moulded surrounds. Ovolo mullioned windows of
4 lights with leaded lights. Plaque to first floor centre with crest and
inscription HB 1887 WIDOWS HOMES. Gabled half dormers with mullion windows with
leaded lights, bargeboards and finials. Gabled cross wings with finials.
Swept roof with cresting and 3 groups of ridge stacks with moulded cornices.
