3/19 Wood Farmhouse

Farmhouse. C15 timber framed core, extended c1600 and encased in brick and extended
C19. Plain tile roofs. 2 storeys. T-plan. Hall range with central forward gabled
wing. Scattered fenestration, 2 and 3-light casements with diamond leaded glazing.
Gabled wing has ground floor bay with cross casements, first floor casement beneath
hoodmould. Brick porch with tile roof at right hand angle of wing and main range,
and possibly in the position of the original door. Panelled door. Brick stacks
with shaped shafts and oversailing caps, one set axially behind doorway, one
externally on left hand gable, one to left of C19 wing. Rear: remains of
pargetting, iron casements with pintle hinges. Interior: Massive arch braced
cambered tie beam to former 2 bay hall; now floored, the ceiling with deep chamfered
bridging beam and chamfered joists, possibly formerly roll moulded. Doorway to rear
of stack. Pair of opposed doorways at opposite end of hall, but no evidence of
passage, present service range beyond. C19 stair against stack. No access to roof.
Lambs tongue stops to right hand bay.
