Rectory, now holiday apartments. C18, extensively altered 1858 by
G.P. Manners of Bath. Coursed rubble stone, tiled roof, octagonal
brick stacks with toothing and stone moulded cappings. C17-style.
2-storey and attic, 10-windowed front with many gables of varying
heights, some to projecting wings. Blocked chamfered arched
doorway with hoodmould in 2-storey gabled porch with diagonal
buttresses to left of centre, either side are 3-light ovolo-moulded
mullioned and transomed casements. First floor moulded string
course, mainly cross windows. Attics in gables have 2-light
ovolo-mullioned casements, coped verges and ceramic ridge cresting.
Left return has large mullioned and transomed casements, early C18
two-light recessed chamfered mullioned casement to attic. Rear
has 2-storey canted bay with mullioned and transomed casements,
cross windows and large mullioned and transomed casements either
side and to first floor, three original attic gables with 2-light
recessed chamfered mullioned casements. To left is square 3-
stage tower with leaded spire, dentilled cornice, attached to left
are C19 and late C20 ranges, at right angles on north-west side is
barn with double-chamfered gabled archway, mostly C20 casements
including rooflights.
Interior has 4-panelled doors, stairs with stick balusters,
original 8-bay roof with collars. (Diocesan Records, Trowbridge.)
