House. Late medieval, C17 and C18. Timber framed with extensions
in brick. Thatched roof. Single storey and attic, raised in part
to 2 storeys. Five bays. Bays 2 and 3 from south timber framed
each independently, bay 3 with herringbone noggings, both probably
Cl7 heightening to 2 storeys. Bays 4 and 5 c18 extension with
gable stack. Bay I single storey. Framing has narrow panels in
bay 2, chamfered projecting wall plate, and wavy corner braces.
Entrance now in bay 5.
Interior: Framed bays have 2 pairs of crucks founded on large
sarsens projecting externally. Large chalkstone stack in bay 4
with timber lintel serving bay 3 of framed house. Cruck frame
between bays 3 and 4 has arch braces to the collar.
