II*
Manor house, C17 with late C18 wing and remodelling C19. Brick with some tile
hanging. Tiled roofs. Two-storey and attics, central block of 3 bay, the end
bays brought forward in C18 and gabled. Centre bay raised as clock tower and
bell turret, also C17 or C18. Late C18 also the right rear wing with reset
datestone of 1727. C19 rear wing to centre bay and extension to left with
canted end. Central door, timber, and 12-pane sashes, but leaded windows
flanking entrance. Gables tile hung in probably C19.
Interior: Centre bay contains stair hall, C17 panelling. Right bay with
fielded panelling of C18. Above this room also C18 panelling. First floor
of left wing has remains of late C16 or C17 timber framing, and some C17
panelling over hall. C18 stair. Clock said to hat C17 mechanism. Garden
layout is of interest and includes a square belvedere mound with ascending
