A timber-framed and plastered house of probable C16-C17 origin, now largely
refaced in brick and plastered. A mill is known to have stood on this
site since the mid C16 when it was mentioned in the grant of lands to
Sir William Cordell builder of the present Melford Hall. The mill, which
formerly adjoined the house on the north, is now demolished. The house
is double gabled on the south front and there is a gable on the west front.
The north gable is weather-boarded, C20 in C18 style. 2 storeys. 3 window
range on the south front. The windows are double-hung sashes with glazing
bars. The south front has a 2 storeyed canted bay on the east end and
a single storey bay on the west. There is a central doorway. Roof tiled,
double-pitched, with C19 ornamental bargeboards on the south.
