GREAT FINBOROUGH HIGH STREET GREEN
TM 05 NW
2/123 High Street Green
- Farmhouse
- II
Farmhouse, built in 3 stages: a substantial parlour crosswing of c.1600, added
to a hall range of mid C16 (now fragmentary), and a front range of early C19.
2 storeys, partly with attics. Timber-framed and plastered. The crosswing
has a plaintiled roof with good chimney of red brick with sawtooth shaft of
c.1600. The C19 range has a pantiled roof. Mid C20 windows and entrance
doorway to front range. The cross-wing has good complete framing for date; an
ovolo-moulded bridging beam with leaf stops in the parlour, and plastered
arched open fireplaces in 2 rooms. The hall range has a broach stop chamfered
binding beam; reduced to one storey with lean-to roof and much remodelled
c.1980. Included despite C20 alterations because of good and little-altered
parlour wing.
