5/165 Ringshall Hall
9.12.55
- II
Farmhouse; formerly manor house. Mid C16 core; much remodelling, possibly in
1788. 2 storeys, 3 windows. Timber-framed and plastered on footings of red
brick which are in part of C16. Hipped plaintiled roof; a large C18 rear
outshut with internal chimneys of red brick. Small pane casements probably of
early C20. Entrance doorway with carved console brackets and cornice of late
C18 type; boarded mid C20 door with glazed panel. Ground storey rooms have
ogee-and-scotia moulded beams and joists: good carpentry of 1530-1560 but
evidence of major late C17 or C18 alterations to entire frame of building.
The present house is said to be a kitchen range once attached to the rear of a
large house otherwise demolished in C18.
