Farmhouse. Early C17 with later alterations, the last phase in early C19. A
long main range with service cross-wing to right, extending to the rear.
Timber framed and plastered, the plasterwork lined in imitation of ashlar at
the front; old plasterwork to side walls of cross-wing and rear of main range.
Thatched roof. 2 storeys. Various casement windows; the main range has 4 3-
light first floor windows, each with square-leaded glass in the side lights.
To left is an early C19 doorway: moulded architrave with corner roundels,
cornice and 6-panel raised and fielded door. 2 further doorways with old
boarded doors. Small internal stack, at junction of main range and cross-
wing. The hall and parlour cells are heated by C18 stacks placed against the
rear wall. Early C19 sash windows to left gable end. Service wing has
slatted windows to sides and rear. A lean-to at the rear of the main range
has windows with old diamond-leaded glass. Interior largely unaltered since
early C19, with most of the structure concealed. 2 C19 stairs, the well stair
between hall and parlour probably replacing a stack. Parlour has 2 cupboards
with moulded surrounds and corner roundels. Service wing was once detached,
the gap now infilled by a small stack and straight stair. Roof over service
wing has clasped and butt purlins with one-way straight plank wind braces.
Roof over main range not examined.
