House, set at right angles to street behind No.15A (qv. Item 6/85). Early C16
with late C16 in-line addition. Timber framed and rendered, pantiled roof. 3
cells. 2 storeys and attic. Earlier phase has underbuilt jetty to south.
Main front faces south. 3 first floor C19 casements. Ground floor has 2 16-
paned sash windows and a mid C20 casement. 2 doorways with semi-glazed 4-
panel doors, one with overlight. 3 flush rooflights. Internal stack has
axial shaft. Interior. Early C16 work in 2 1/2 bays, with heavy close studding
on upper floor. Bay at west end has heavy joists, very closely-spaced, with
evidence for cross-partition and trimming for stairtrap. To north this bay
had a partitioned through passage from the front range: 2 blocked 4-centre
arched doorways on ground floor, one with leaf-carved spandrels (reversed mid
C20). Centre room has good early C18 corner cupboard, the semi-domed head
with a painting of Bacchus and Ariadne in a chariot, pulled by a lion (in a
panther skin) and leopard, emerging from clouds. Good intact plain crown-post
roof with 2-way bracing. 2-bay addition, one bay containing stack. Intact
first floor studding, one incomplete window with chamfered mullions, clasped
purlin roof. By stack, an C18 first floor stair and newel attic stair.
