House. Early C18. Timber-framed and rendered; thatch. 1½ storeys; 2-cell
plan. 2 internal chimney-stacks with plain red brick shafts, one in a lobby-
entrance position, the other just within the frame at the right end. 2 gabled
dormers with plaintiled roofs and old 2-light casement windows with a single
bar to lights. 2 windows to the ground floor: on left, a late C19 sash in a
flush frame with a single vertical bar to lights; on right, a 3-light casement
window. Entrance door with 4 flush panels in a plain surround; projecting
flat pediment, bolection-moulded; another door, with 6 raised fielded panels,
on the extreme left of the front. Interior with plain light timbering
exposed: full height studding, ceilings with joists set on edge, small chamfer
to main beams. On the ground floor front, a blocked 5-light original window
with diamond mullions of very small sections, an indication of late date. The
internal stack heated only the room to the left of it; open fireplace with a
plain timber lintel. The end stack is a later addition to heat the room on
the right. The building was probably once divided into 2 cottages.
