Farmhouse. Early C17 with mid C19 rear wing. Red brick, with some knapped
flint to the basement and one gable end. Plaintiled roof (modern tiles at the
rear). 2 storeys with attics and a dairy/scullery basement floor. 3-cell
form with lobby entry. C20 large-paned casement windows with brick
hoodmoulds. The doorway is set high (over the basement) and is approached by
a C20 flight of brick steps. The moulded doorframe and fine plank door are
both original and are notable survivals. Wide flat hood. Internal stack, the
upper part rebuilt C19. Parapet gables; against the left gable is a later
external stack and a lean-to addition. Gothick rear wing: heavy 3-light
casement windows with 4-centre arched heads and estate-style leaded glass;
gabled entrance porch with matching open wooden archway. The left bay of this
front is the gable end of the C17 range: matching hoodmoulds over all windows.
Ovolo-moulded bridging beams to parlour and the chamber above. In the attic
is a C17 brick fireplace with moulded lintol. The original rear door of the
house survives but is not in position.
