Department store and offices. 1938-40. Designed by T H Johnson & Son for the Doncaster Co-operative Society Ltd. Steel framed with yellow brick and pale blue Vitriolite tile cladding. Five storey. Central five storey block has brick cladding and lower three storey side wings have Vitriolite tile cladding. Glazed central rounded staircase tower has projecting cornice. Ground floor has continuous plate glass shop fronts with bronzed metal frame windows and black Vitriolite cladding below. Set back shop entrances have curved side windows. Ground floor protected by continuous canopy. Lower wings have two continuous rows of metal framed windows with flat coped parapet. Central section has banded brickwork with strips of windows on the third floor in continuous raised surrounds, similar though larger windows to fourth floor with similar surround and pale blue Vitriolite panels between windows. North facade to Printing Office Street has projecting four storey block to east clad in pale blue Vitriolite tiles. South facade to Duke Street curved with similar four storey block to east with large commercial lorry entrance at ground floor and two pairs of windows to each of the three upper floors, also clad in pale blue Vitriolite tiles.

INTERIOR has central staircase with inner glass brick elevator shaft and surrounding stairs with polished stone facing and metal balustrade. Rear staircase has similar polished stone facing and aluminium balustrade.
