Terrace of ten houses, now shops and offices. Early C19 with later alterations.
Stucco with painted stone dressings and slate roofs, except for concrete tiles
to Nos 7 and 8. All houses three storeys, No 4 of 3 bays, all the others
of 2 bays. No 4 has plinth and shallow bow with tripartite plate glass sash
window to ground floor right. To left is a wide elliptically arched doorcase
with rusticated voussoirs, raised keystone and moulded imposts set in pilastered
surround with entablature which continues across full width of the facade.
Within the doorcase are paired 6 raised and fielded panelled doors below a
divided fanlight. First floor has three tall unequally hung 15 pane sashes
with panelled aprons and second floor has 3 6 pane sashes with projecting
sills. Nos 5 - 13 have C20 shop fronts to ground floors of no special interest.
Above each has a pair of tall unequally hung sashes, all originally 15 pane,
Nos 6, 8, 11 and 12 all with lower sash changed to plate glass. Second floor
of each house has a pair of sashes with projecting sills, all 6 pane sashes
except plate glass sash to right of No 13. Stepped eaves band throughout
the terrace and large brick ridge and end stacks. Interior of No 4 has open
wall, open string staircase to rear of front room with stick balusters, ramped
handrail and turned newels.
