4/69 The Old Rectory

House, formerly rectory. Late C18/early C19 with C20 addition. White
Flemish bond brick and red brick with a slate roof. Two storeys. Road
front: three bays symmetrically disposed. Central semi-circular bow window
with pilaster buttresses to either side and having three ground floor sash
windows of 3x4 panes with flat-arched heads and approached by a flight of 2
ashlar steps. Similar windows to the first floor, although of less height
and a hipped roof above this bay. To either side are lateral bays with
windows of similar form and height to ground and first floors. The left
hand side (entrance front) is of 3 bays, that at left being a C20 addition.
Central C20 doorway with C20 Tuscan porch which has columns, with demi-
column responds and a plain entablature. Panelled door surround and door
of 6 panels, the upper two glazed, windows of 3x4 sash panes at either side
and three similar windows to the first floor of less height. The right
hand side has 3 bays at left of white brick with central windows of 3x4
sash panes and blind panels at either side to both floors. To right of
this is a 2-storey service wing of red brick with randomly disposed
fenestration.
