diapering to lower part of walling. The gate piers are square
with chamfered corners and are surmounted by moulded brick
finials to match the caps of the pinnacles on the Hall. Paired
wrought iron gates with lower carved wooden panels. To each side
of the gateway is a section of curved walling terminating in a
similar pier, with further straight sections of walling extending
for some 15m. in each direction and ending in another pier. The
upper part of the walling is in the form of an arcade of semi-
circular headed arches, each containing a wrought iron railing;
above is a course of bricks laid in sawtooth fashion and brick
copings.
