Part of school. 1910-12 by Maxwell Ayrton F.R.I.B.A in Gothic style. Built of knapped
flints with Sussex sandstone dressings and tiled roof. 2 storeys, irregular fenestration
East elevation has central feature of a 2 storeyed splayed bay with crenellated parapet
and 3 cambered headed casement windows, those on the ground floor being taller and
having heraldic stained glass to tile windows. Decorative band between floors. End
gabled feature with 1 window flanked by offset buttresses. 10 other windows to 1st
floor alternately 2 and 3 light cambered headed casements. Ground floor has 16 mullioned
and transomed windows with trefoliated heads set in blank arcading and separated by
buttresses. West elevation has central and end gabled features with coping, kneelers
and offset buttresses with mullioned windows and door in cambered stone arch in end
gable. 1st floor has 10 other mullioned windows, alternately 2 and 3 light and a
projecting ground floor with 16 mullioned and transomed windows with trefoliated heads
set in blank arches separated by buttresses. Plinth.
