2/71 'F'pit winding house.

Colliery winding house. Brick; Welsh slate roof. One tall storey, 4 x 3 bays
and low 3-bay porch on west containing door in return., All windows round-headed
sashes with glazing bars in brick panels with dog-tooth decoration; small blocked
round-headed openings on north formerly for exhaust pipes; lower half of each
bay blind. Interior : balcony of cast iron; machinery by Grange Iron Company,
installed 1888; King-post roof with double tie-beams. Historical note : the
first shaft of 'F' pit was sunk in 1777.
