House. c1740. Limestone ashlar and render with a slate hipped
roof. Double-depth plan with a left-hand projecting wing. Mid
Georgian style.
3 storeys and basement; 5-window range. A symmetrical front
with giant pilasters to a cornice, and attic extended behind
the former parapet. Swept steps up to a raised doorway with
pilasters, triglyphs and pediment, semicircular-arched doorway
with a plate-glass fanlight and 6-panel door; 6/6-pane sashes,
3/6-pane top-floor sashes. The street front is 2 storeys;
4-window range, a right-hand door with brick piers and stone
blocks and a pediment.
INTERIOR: remodelled 1991, details include a central hall to a
large open-well stair with column-on-vase newels, a
second-floor rear open-well stair with stick balusters and
ramped rail, cornices and 6-panel doors.
SUBSIDIARY FEATURES: C19 cast-iron railings to the steps, and
wrought-iron lamp basket above the door; attached rubble wall
beside the road to the S.
