Office. c1900. Brick with limestone dressings, brick ridge
stacks and slate mansard roof. Single-depth plan. Edwardian
Baroque style. 3 storeys and attic; 10-window range. Set on a
corner site with 2-window entrance section, 3-window curved
corner and 1:3:1 right-hand return; ground-floor sill band,
the upper floors set back above a first-floor sill band, and
articulated by Gibbsian Ionic pilasters with a pronounced
entasis and swag between the volutes, frieze and dentil
cornice set forward over the pilasters. Openings have Gibbs
surrounds and large split keys: semicircular-arched left-hand
doorway with fanlight and 6-panel double doors; the corner has
a semicircular-arched coffered canopy on paired brackets and
short strapwork pilasters, over a large window with angled
outer voussoirs, presumably formerly a doorway. 1 window to
the right of the entrance, paired above, triple corner
windows, and those in the return separated by paired
pilasters; plate-glass sashes and 4 casement dormers. INTERIOR
not inspected.
