Farmhouse. 1637, with C17/early C18 rear wing; roof raised and other alterations
mid C19. Regular coursed ironstone. Shallow-pitched slate roof; massive central
stone stack has 4 diagonally-set square shafts of thin bricks; stone left end
stack has C19 brick shaft. 3-unit lobby entry plan extended to T-plan, with wing
to rear. 2 storeys; 3-window range. C19/C20 half-glazed 6-panelled door with
painted wood lintel between second and third bays. 4-light stone
double-chamfered mullioned windows to ground floor, 3-light above. On left
mullions removed and early C20 casements inserted. Ground floor window on right
has king mullion. All openings have hood moulds. Datestone high above entrance
inscribed I M D 1637; chimney has datestones I W. sm. 1637. Lower rear wing has
4-light mullioned window and 2-light window above with hood mould. Interior:
broad chamfered beams. Open fireplace with ogee stop-chamfered bressumer. Inside
it is an unusual chamfered and scalloped stone fireplace, removed from a bedroom
and partly recut c.1950. Second open fireplace has C18/early C19 moulded wood
surround with segmental arch and vertical panels.
