House, now Museum. c1830-40. Ashlar Bath stone, slate roof.
Central stack. 2-storey front block, split to three storeys at rear.
Two bays, with central hallway to rear stair. Two rooms deep.
Connection to late C20 extension on right. Ground floor rusticated
without perpends between end pilasters. Central entrance Greek
Doric portico with crested entablature on wide stepped podium.
Semicircular fanlight with coloured glass. Round-headed
full-height windows, margin-glazed with etched flashed glass. Simple
lugged architraves to first floor windows, 12-pane sashes with
margin glazing. Recessed panel below reeded. Centre bay broken
forward. Cornice and parapet with acroteriae. Facade has
contemporary extension left.
INTERIOR: Groined vault in hallway. Reception room right has
plaster cornice. Stacks to rear walls. Stair with three straight
balusters per tread. Rusticated gatepiers to forecourt with
anthemion block cappings.
