Church of St James

A Grade II Listed Building in Highworth, Swindon

Grave of James Bond author Ian Fleming

Uploader's Comments

James Bond author Ian Fleming is buried in this obelisk-topped grave in St James's churchyard which bears the Latin inscription, "Omnia perfunctus vitae praemia marces", which roughly translates as "Here you rot, having lived life to the hilt".
Fleming and his wife Ann lived in Sevenhampton Place close by and he was only 56 when he died in 1964, having lived life to the full.
His wife Ann (who died in 1981), is also buried here along with his son Caspar, who died of a drug overdose in his early 20s in 1975 after a troubled childhood in the shadow of his famous father.
