II
Estate farmhouse, 1842 for Joseph Neeld of Grittleton, squared
rubble stone with stone slate roofs, moulded coping to gables, ball
finials and ashlar stacks. Two storeys, plain Tudor style with
small-pane casements in flush mullion windows. Twin-gabled west
front with dripcourse, first floor 3-light, single light and three
light, all with unmoulded hoodmoulds and ground floor 4-light
mullion and transom windows each side of door in heavily detailed
gabled porch dated JN 1842. Shouldered ashlar coping, doorway in
moulded architrave with keystone and window each side in similar
surround with keystone. Long south side with two ridge stacks, the
roof slightly lower immediately behind front range. Three window
range of 2-light windows, upper windows with hoodmoulds, lower
windows mullion-and-transom with dripcourse over. To right, dairy
and cheese room has nine small horizontal vents in three tiers.
Lower outbuilding beyond to east. Short east side has large
outside stack and east end 3-light above and 4-light mullion-and-
transom windows below. East side of dairy and cheese room range
has lean-to ground floor and small first floor lights.
