Detached house. Circa 1600 with mid C17 addition and late C19 and
C20 alterations and additions. Rubble with flush rusticated
dressed stone quoins, stone dressings and gabled stone slate roofs
with tall paired ashlar stacks; ball finials to gable ends. L-
shaped plan with core range to centre and later advanced wing to
left. Two storeys, 3 windows to main block, 2 storeys and attic, 1
window to wing. Windows are 3 and 4-light cavetto-moulded mullions
with hoodmoulds and small leaded pane casements to centre block;
C20 bay to ground floor right. Windows to wing are 2 and 3-light
ovolo-moulded mullions with small leaded pane casements, hoodmoulds
and flush relieving arches. Central gabled porch to main block
with glazed door.
Interior. Former lobby-entry plan with central Tudor-arched
fireplace with coved spandrels to entrance hall. Ground floor room
to right has mid C18 panelling brought from Cam House, London.
Newel staircase in the angle between early and later ranges;
further staircase off entrance hall which forks at first floor
level. Heavily chamfered beams to ground floor rooms. Tudor-
arched fireplace in upper room to mid C17 wing. Original butt-
purlin roof structure.
