RETAINING WALL. Early C18, probably on medieval foundations. Limestone rubble, some
brick dressings: limestone coping. Extends from north corner of building to north-
west of Stone Mill (6/203A, qv), as a curving course north for c 80m, before turning
sharply east for a short distance. Circa 5m high, with parapet ramped up clm towards
north end of north-south section. There is a large blocked opening at the north end
of the same section. C19 buildings on and against the wall are not listed. The wall
defines part of the bailey of Trowbridge Castle, of cll origin.
