Granite urn memorial of 1912 to the C16 Protestant martyr William Nichol.
Red Aberdeen granite turned urn on short round shaft with coved cap and raised plinth. Incised decoration, the patterns left unpolished. The memorial stands on a sandstone block with ogee-chamfered upper angles. Inscription 'The noble army of martyrs praise thee. On this spot William Nichol of this town was burnt at the stake for the truth April 9th 1558'.
Included for special historical interest as a memorial to C16 Marian persecutions.
