History

Gothic memorial to Charles C. Clifton of Ty Mawr, died 1841.

Exterior

Churchyard memorial, Gothic style, in Bath stone. Large square plan monument with four gabled sides, the gables coped with finials against a four-sided ashlar spire with finials. Each side has a long pointed recessed plaque with eroding lettering, moulding beneath, over a pedestal with rectangular panel each side and moulded plinth. Thin stepped diagonal angle buttresses. The gable copings appear to have had carved stops at corners, all lost. Main inscription to W to C.C. Clifton, S side inscription to the Rev C.C. Clifton, died 1847.
Oval enclosure of Gothic iron railings on low stone plinth. Railings have fleur-de-lys finials and between each pair of rails, a small pointed insert just under top rail, and two iron quatrefoils. Matching gate opening below top rail on E side.

Included for its special interest as a large memorial in the Gothic style, with original wrought iron Gothic railings.
